I get this question a lot. When I tell people they can make money online by becoming an Internet Marketer, they usually think I am trying to sell them some home based business pyramid scheme type opportunity. They immediately put their defensive foot forward because they don’t want to be ripped off. So, I thought I would take a post and clear up any misconceptions you may have about Internet Marketing.
Internet Marketing is not any one specific way to make money. You don’t buy into it, you don’t sign up under anyone else, and the profits you make from it are 100% yours to keep. (minus income taxes of course)
Internet Marketing is simply choosing a product or service (either your own or someone else’s) and finding a creative way to promote it on the internet. It’s just like owning a brick and mortar store in the physical world, only your store is located on a virtual piece of property and your customers can come from all over the world with just a click of a mouse.
If you are a woodworker and make little wooden trinkets in your garage, you can sell them online, thus becoming an Internet Marketer. If you don’t have a product of your own, you can sign up with the million and one affiliate programs on the web (Amazon.com is a big one) and promote products you have personally used and are satisfied with on your blog, thus making you an Internet Marketer. If you just want to write about topics that interest you, you can create a blog and stick some Adsense Ads on the pages, which is also a form of Internet Marketing.
The way you market on the internet and what you choose to market is entirely up to you.
Taking advantage of the many ways to make money online using the internet could open up so many awesome opportunities for you! You could finally pay off those bills that drag you down each month, you could possibly quit your day job, if you have kids…you could finally be that stay at home parent you’ve been wanting to be, the possibilities are endless.
You don’t have to be a salesman to “sell” things online either. If you have never sold a thing in your life, that’s ok. One of the many ways to make money online is by blogging about the products you have personally used. Most times, personal testimonies about a product or service trump big flashy advertisements anyway, so just being honest can help you cash in.
