Money Making Micro Niches

Why is choosing a micro niche so important?

The web is home to millions of websites that are in competition with each other every day, so to get your site seen and read takes a bit of strategy. The more specific your website’s topic, the better chance a searcher will land on your site and actually get the content they are looking for. When a visitor lands on a page that is spot on with their search, you can bet they are more open to listen to what you have to say, as well as click on the links within your content.

The old saying “build it and they will come” unfortunately does not apply to building websites on today’s internet. It’s more like “build it and make it real easy to find by Google ….and then they will come”. That’s right, since the “Big G” calls most of the shots online, we need to cater our sites to their search engine. The smartest way to make money with Adsense, or any other form of Internet Marketing, is to convince Google our site should be in, at least the top 10 but aiming for the very first, result returned when searching for our particular keyword or keyphrase. How do we do that? With a micro niche.

The more focused and targeted your keyphrase, the less competition there is. We need to find a word or phrase that people are searching for regularly that don’t have a lot of competing websites.  For example, according to Google, 101,000,000 searches are done monthly for the keyword “table”. 4,090,000 searches are done per month for the keyphrase coffee table”.  And “ottoman coffee table’ gets 60,500. Tables are the niche, coffee tables are a micro niche within tables, and ottoman coffee tables are a micro niche within coffee tables.

So, why not target the big niche “table” and it’s 101,000,000 monthly searches? Because with that many searches per month, the competition is fierce. Internet Marketers specialize in keyword research, and most of the big  number searches are saturated with other marketers’ sites.

Going after a smaller micro niche gives you a better shot at becoming the top website in your niche, which means you get the majority of your keyword or phrase’s traffic. The further you dig down into a niche, the less you will have to compete against other websites for that top ranking.

The less you have to compete against other websites for ranking, the more traffic you get, and the more traffic you get, the more Adsense clicks you will get…ultimately making you more money online.

Some micro niches yield better than others. For example, micro niches related to specific products tend to be a better fit for Adsense revenue. When people land on your site about ottoman coffee tables, most likely they are looking to purchase an ottoman coffee table, and since Adsense links are usually product related advertisements, they will be more likely to click those links leading them to where they can make that purchase.

On the other hand, if you build a site around “information” as opposed to a specific product, people that arrive at your site will be looking for information, and without a “buying” mentality, they are less likely to click on Adsense links.
