Using Google’s FREE SK Tool To Find Money Making Micro Niches

Google has a ton of free tools you can use to find lucrative micro niches, and one great place to start is the Google Search Based Keyword Tool. This tool allows you to search for high volume keywords, that are searched for in Google, and also shows you other related keywords’ and phrases’ search volume. Most importantly, these keywords are mostly product related words and phrases that people actually are looking to buy!

When building your sites using the Micro Niche Adsense Method, your micro niche keyword or phrase should be product related to ensure whoever lands at your site is in a “buying” mind set. This increases the chances your visitors will click on the Adsense Ads on your site.

Below is a screen shot of what you will see when upon arriving at Google’s SK Tool site. At the bottom of the screen, click on the link that says “Or See Top Keywords Across All Categories”.

When you click that link, you will find keywords grouped by topic on the left hand side of the screen, simply click a category that interests you.

Let’s click on “Home and Garden” and see what comes up.

As you can see, it generates a list of home and garden related keywords to the right and on the left under the “”Home and Garden” tab we clicked, it generates sub topics to allow you to dig deeper within the “home and garden”niche. Let’s check out the words on the right, and choose “wedding rings”.  According to Google, at the time of this writing, the term “wedding rings” gets approximately 100,000 searches per month. Not bad, but with a search volume that high, this phrase probably has a lot of competition.

To get more targeted, long tail keywords related to the “wedding rings” niche, type the phrase “wedding rings” in the field at the top that reads “Word or phrase”. When we do that, we get the following results:

These 3-4 word keyword phrases are exactly what we are looking for. These are called “long tail keywords”, and we want to find one that has at least 2500 monthly searches.  As we can see from the above results, there are 5 phrases that have made it into our preliminary round of keyword research. “Men’s Wedding Rings”, “Wedding Ring Sets”, “Celtic Wedding Rings”, “Cheap Wedding Rings”, and “Titanium Wedding Rings” all have over 2500 monthly searches. Jot these words down either on a piece of paper, or a spreadsheet.

Go through several categories using this tool to fill up your preliminary keywords list. The next step is analyzing these key phrases further to find out how many other competing websites there are optimizing for this keyphrase, and how tough that competition is.

If we build our site around the phrase “Celtic Wedding Rings”, we want to be sure our site has a fighting chance to rank at least on the first page of Google when someone searches for that term, with the ultimate goal of getting to #1!

Now, go generate a page full of ideas for yourself, and we will discuss how to analyze competition in the next post!
